Forecast for Wednesday, August 29, 2018

“99. I’ve been waiting so long. For 99. Where did we go wrong. Oh 99. I love you!” I mean as long as the humidity is reasonably low. Yesterday was that day! Amazing again on the deck this morning and the coffee is always good. Highs near 100 today and tomorrow with a slight chance for storms along the international border. Monsoon 2018 isn’t that far away and she’s planning her return for this weekend if the forecast comes true. One computer model still keeps us dry, so we’ll see how it plays out. 101ish Friday. 20%/20% Saturday 98. 30%/30% Sunday 96. 20%/20% Labor Day 96. 10% Tuesday 96. Stay tuned!

Forecast for Tuesday, August 28, 2018

Gorgeous on the deck this morning! Low 70s and a light wind. Near 70 to low 70s in our morning forecast for the next few days equals a great way to start the day outside with that cup of coffee!

“They say our love won’t pay the rent. But you know our money’s always spent. Babe. I got you babe!” The rest of the forecast is like groundhog day except we don’t have groundhogs here (do we?). We’ll call it prairie dog days with highs in the upper 90s to near 100 through Thursday. Monsoon 2018 is stalking us from just south of the border. Will she return this weekend? Computer models disagree with one dry and another with scattered storms. The National Weather Service is leaning toward the latter and who are we to argue? We’ll go sunny Friday near 101ish with a 10% chance for a storm Friday night low 70s. 20%/20% Saturday 98. 30%/30% Sunday 96. 20% Labor Day 95. Stay tuned!

Forecast for Monday, August 27, 2018

Cue the Three Degrees, “When Will I See You Again”, the Cascades, “Rhythm of the Rain”, and Chicago. Sing it with me… “Everybody needs a little time away. I heard her say. From each other…” All that to say (sing) Monsoon 2018 is taking the week off. Who authorized that?! Drier air working its way in pushing Monsoon out. Highs getting a little warmer each day, but dry air cools more quickly under the stars. Morning’s look terrific for your coffee out on the deck. Monsoon returns to us this weekend. At least, that’s what she said when she left… Stay tuned!

Sunny through Friday with highs in the upper 90s through Wednesday. 100ish Thursday. 101 Friday. Mostly sunny Saturday with a 20%/30% chance for storms 100. 30% Sunday 99.

Forecast for Sunday, August 26, 2018

It was a beautiful Saturday! High of only 92. Lots of sunshine. But. The storm chances never became reality, so there’s that. One last chance for Monsoon 2018 to show off before she takes a break. Moisture in place today, but a westerly flow will take over and dry us out starting tonight. Monsoon 2018 may return to us by next weekend if we play our cards right. One cool thing about drier air is cooler mornings! Look at those lows near 70. Pretty perfect.

Mostly sunny today with a 30% chance for scattered storms this afternoon and a high in the mid 90s. 10% chance for storms this evening then partly cloudy with a low in the low 70s.

Sunny tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday upper 90s. Near 100ish Thursday. 101 Friday. 10% Saturday 100. Enjoy!

Forecast for Saturday, August 25, 2018

70 degrees and amazing on the deck this morning! That first cup of coffee even more satisfying after an amazing light show last night. Most of the Metro getting much deserved and needed rain with the airport picking up nearly an inch of rain (.98″). A big thanx to all who washed their car and left the patio furniture out yesterday! Moisture hanging around for one more day before we start to dry out. Scattered storms possible this afternoon and evening with locally heavy rain possible as one more disturbance moves our way out of Mexico (thank you Mexico!) Low 90s today and low 70s tonight. Viva Monsoon 2018!

Drier tomorrow but still a chance for an isolated storm or three, hopefully near you, with a high in the mid 90s. A more westerly flow will push out our moisture and bring sunshine and warmer temperatures next week. Upper 90s Monday and Tuesday. 100ish Wednesday and Thursday. 101 Friday.

Forecast for Friday, August 24, 2018

It’s Friiidaaay!!!

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect today from 11:00 this morning until Midnight tonight. So. Much. Moisture. Plus an inverted trough AND another upper low heading our way all adding up to what should be numerous storms today. Some storms will be capable of dropping 1-2 inches of rain (or more) in a short amount of time. We’ll see. We make fun of the jinx that often happens when the Weather Service issues a Flash Flood Watch. Yesterday was off to a promising start and then storms evaporated in the Metro as soon as the watch was issued! Still, flooding occurred in Nogales, near Sierra Vista, Douglas and more, so they weren’t wrong. Will Tucson see flooding rains today/tonight? It looks like a distinct possibility, so just remember to enjoy Monsoon 2018 responsibly. Don’t drive through running water and you should be good! I know you know that, but it’s worth mentioning because we at Tucson Weather care about you! ❤️ Viva Monsoon 2018!

70% chance for storms today, some with heavy rainfall, and a high of only 90! 70 by tomorrow morning with a 50% chance for storms tonight. Again some with heavy rain possible.

Moisture and instability will be with us into tomorrow so a 30% chance for storms and a high near 93.

We start to dry out Sunday as we will be in a more westerly flow. A 20% chance for storms, but a better chance to our east. Sunday’s high in the mid 90s.

Drying out more Monday with a 10% chance upper 90s. Mostly sunny Tuesday and Wednesday near 100ish. Sunny Thursday 101.

Forecast for Thursday, August 23, 2018

Why did the trees cross the road? Microburst. That’s what happened around Old Father and Thornydale yesterday afternoon. Monsoon 2018 was rockin’ it in Marana and Oro Valley with 1 to 3 inches of rain and even some hail. Not everyone got soaked though. It rained at my apartment in southern OV but no where near an inch. The airport picked up .09″. I hope there was rain where you live. Viva Monsoon 2018! Maybe she does love us after all.

Let’s try it again this afternoon/evening! Lots of moisture still with us. If we can manage enough sunshine this morning we should be off and running this afternoon. Of course not everyone will get storms, but those that do could receive locally heavy rainfall. Low 90s this afternoon and low 70s by tomorrow morning.

Scattered storms continue through the weekend with drying expected next week. 20%/20% tomorrow and Saturday mid 90s. 20%/20% Sunday upper 90s. 10%/10% Monday upper 90s. 10% Tuesday 100ish. Sunny 100 Wednesday.

Forecast for Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Welcome back Monsoon 2018! We missed you and of course we’ll take you back. All is forgiven. Now. Show us what you are capable of! Last night was a good start. Tina says in the FB comments that Corona de Tucson got some good rains yesterday. Also the Foothills had a nice storm drift off the Catalina’s in the early evening. Then it was the west. A large are of showers and storms formed and persisted until after dark. Viva Monsoon 2018!

Let’s do it again today shall we? The thinking is that storms will form first to our east where they are likely to see more sunshine earlier. Outflow winds from those storms plus later heating in and near the Metro should have scattered storms firing by evening. Some may linger into the overnight hours. With high pressure back to our east we are in a favorable position for a long fetch of moisture for a good chance for afternoon and evening storms through Thursday! Hopefully near you. Highs in the mid 90s and lows in the low to mid 70s.

We may slow “things” down a little bit by late week into the weekend. Still, there is a chance. 20%/20% Friday 94ish. 20%/20% Saturday, Sunday and Monday mid 90s.

Forecast for Monday, August 20, 2018

While Monsoon 2018 is gallivanting down in Mexico we are left to bake in the Sun. Still, only 101 yesterday, so not all that bad. 102 today before our wayward friend returns. High pressure moving to our east will put us in a southerly flow pushing lots of Monsoon moisture back our way! Even some instability to spark some storminess! I know. You’ll believe it when you see it, but the forecast is looking great for tomorrow and Wednesday. Monsoon 2018 may even surprise us with a storm or two tonight! Hopefully near you.

Partly sunny tomorrow with a 40% chance for storms and a high near 98ish. 40% chance tomorrow night with a low in the mid 70s. 30%/50% Wednesday upper 90s. 30%/30% Thursday mid 90s. 20%/20% Friday, Saturday and Sunday mid 90s.

Forecast for Sunday, August 19, 2018

I have good news! Monsoon 2018 just sent a note via the computer models saying she is returning to us soon! Probably by Tuesday, maybe even Monday night. As we await the return of our MIA metaphor it’ll be hot and dry. 103 today. 104 tomorrow but with a slight chance for an isolated storm or two! Tuesday looking pretty good as high pressure that is now to our west that has pushed our Monsoon moisture south, will be moving into New Mexico to usher Monsoon moisture back north! Scattered storms back in the forecast Tuesday with a high near 101. 30%/50% Wednesday! 97ish. 30%/30% Thursday 95. 20%/20% Friday 95. 20% Saturday 97. Viva Monsoon! (hopefully soon)
