Forecast for Tuesday, October 23, 2018

We haven’t had a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Tucson (that I remember) in the 13 years I’ve lived here. The way the National Weather Service is talking I wouldn’t be surprised if today is the day. The upper level low that has been to our west is on the move! It will be moving across Arizona during the day today into tonight. As it does we should have a few rounds of thunderstorms. A few of the storms could be severe with large hail and damaging winds the main threat. If you are a professional storm chaser, today is the day that you may not have to drive too far! Storms linger into tonight before the low moves on. “things” clear out and we warm up the end of the week into the weekend.

Showers and storms likely today. Some possibly severe with locally heavy rainfall. Today’s high in the low 80s. 30% chance for storms tonight with a low in the low 60s.

Mostly sunny tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday low 80s. Upper 80s Saturday and Sunday. Mid 80s Monday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Monday, October 22, 2018

A third of an inch of rain at the airport yesterday afternoon/evening with a few storms rumbling around through the night. .35″ fell officially. Others received more, some less. You know how it goes…

It’s gonna keep going! Low still to our west. Moisture hangin’ around. Disturbances in the force rotating through. It all adds up to scattered storms from time to time through at least tomorrow. Add some afternoon heating and instability and some of our storms could be on the strong to severe side. Large hail, damaging winds, and insurance checks are all a possibility. Storms may linger into Wednesday. We’ll let the computer models sort that out. Either way drying up by Thursday at the latest and warming up into the weekend. If you’ve been wanting the sunny warm stuff this weekend is for you!

Partly sunny today with a 40% chance for storms, some may be on the strong side, with a high in the low 80s. Mostly cloudy tonight with a 20% chance for storms mid 60s.

Partly sunny tomorrow with a 60% chance for storms, some strong to severe, with a high near 80. 20% chance Tuesday night near 60ish.

Call it sunny Wednesday low 80s. Low 80s Thursday. Mid 80s Friday and Saturday. Upper 80s Sunday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Sunday, October 21, 2018

Yesterdays forecast came to pass. 87 and breezy. 3 degrees above average. Today’s average high is 83 and we’ll be very close near 84. The breezes continue out of the ESE 10-20 mph and gusting higher, but not as bad as yesterday. An upper level low is located over the central California coast with disturbances in the force rotating around it. One of those now located in SE CA is increasing the moisture and instability from Tucson west. We should see an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity as we go through the day. Scattered storms continue tonight with a low in the mid 60s.

Our low continues to weaken and move our way giving as a chance for showers and storms through Tuesday. Winds will lighten up (Lighten up Frances! (Bill Murray in “Stripes”)) as we go. 30%/40% tomorrow/tomorrow night low 80s. 30% Tuesday near 80ish.

Trough gets out of here by Tuesday night leaving us with a drier NW flow. Temperatures right around average or a couple three degrees above as we go through the rest of the week. Sunny Wednesday 80. Low 80s Thursday and Friday. Mid 80s Saturday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Saturday, October 20, 2018

Welcome to the weekend! We haven’t seen this all October, but today will actually be above average! And while it’s true to a large extent that life is what you make it, as far as the high temperature is concerned we will end up 3 degrees above average for October 20th if the forecast comes exactly true. Part of the reason it’ll be so warm is the wind out of the ESE 15-25 mph gusting to near 40! Not considered pleasant by most. As the east winds run downhill the air compresses and warms, so… Also we are starting out relatively warm this morning. Again you can blame that on the wind (or give it credit. Either works). Breezy still tonight with ESE winds 15-25 mph gusting to near 35 with a 10% chance for a storm and a low in the mid 60s.

The main weather player through Tuesday is a low currently located along the California coast. That is kicking up our wind which is also importing more moisture. As disturbances in the force rotate around the low and through the area we should see some showers and storms. The low clears out by Tuesday night.

30% chance for storms tomorrow and still breezy with ESE winds 15-25 mph gusting over 30 and a high in the low 80s. 20% Monday low 80s. 20% Tuesday near 80ish. Sunny Wednesday and Thursday 80. Low 80s Friday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Friday, October 19, 2018

It’s Friiidaaay!!!

Pretty nice yesterday especially after the breezes calmed down. Today will be stellar! And not just because it’s Friiidaaay!!! Our closest star (Sol) will be obstructed only be a few high clouds today and the east southeast breezes will only be 5-15 or so. Today’s high pretty close to the average for this time of year of 84. All is well!

Well. A storm is brewing (forming really, but brewing sounds more dramatic! It’s the TV training) near southern California and the SE winds will be increasing and bringing more moisture with it. As the storm approacheth this weekend we’ll see more instability to help form some storms, hopefully near you! The winds will be kickin’ up though, so hang on to your hats, put rocks in your pocket, and perhaps we should issue a skirt alert. Everything moves east by Tuesday night drying us out and clearing us up (or drying us up and clearing us out? Either way I guess). Here are how the numbers look:

Mostly sunny tomorrow and breezy with ESE winds 15-25 mph gusting over 30. A 10% chance for a storm or two, hopefully near you, and a high in the mid 80s. Breezy tomorrow night with a 20% chance for storms with a low in the low 60s. 20% Sunday with ESE winds gusting over 25 and a high in the low 80s. 20% Monday low 80s. 10% Tuesday near 80ish. Sunny Wednesday 80. Upper 70s Thursday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Wednesday, October 17, 2018

It’s a good old fashioned warming trend (as opposed to an Old Fashioned Love Song)! Mid 70s today with sunshine. I love the 70s. Three Dog Night. The Eagles. Linda Ronstadt. The Bee Gees. All good stuff. The 70s continue tomorrow after starting in the mid 50s. Tomorrow’s high near 78ish.

Then the 80s return! Madonna. Tears for Fears. Whitney Houston. Duran Duran. Low 80s Friday ahead of our next system. We’ll keep the 80s around Saturday with a 10% chance for showers and high in the mid 80s. Breezy too. Low 80s Sunday with a 30% chance for showers. 10% Monday low 80s. Sunny near 80 Tuesday. Enjoy! And crank it up!!!

Forecast for Monday, October 15, 2018

I forget what round we are on! But. Another round of showers and storms expected as soon as this afternoon with a really good chance for showers and storms, some with locally heavy rainfall, for tonight and tomorrow. Cra cra!!! (is that how the kids spell it? idk) Anyway, east winds picking up and bringing us moisture from, you know, the east. A low forming to our west. And boom! The ingredients are in place for more rain and continued coolness for SE AZ. 20% chance for storms this afternoon and a high in the mid 70s. 70% tonight with an east southeast breeze 15-20 mph and gusty with a low in the low 50s. 40% tomorrow and breezy with a high in the upper 60s!

Another system forecast for the weekend, but a break in between. Sunny Wednesday and a bit breezy with a high in the mid 70s. Upper 70s Thursday. Low 80s Friday. 10% Saturday low 80s. 20% Sunday near 80.

Forecast for Sunday, October 14, 2018

Crazy! Rain pretty much all day yesterday and a high of only 67!!! Plus record rainfall of .69″ Then. Rain overnight adding .18″ at the airport, but some locations on the NW side getting up to an additional inch! I’m gonna plant some Douglas Fir trees just to see what happens. I have received a couple of complaints for my cool rain cheer leading, but please understand that I grew up near Portland, Oregon. I love it when Oregon weather comes to visit me in the desert! Plus, we can always use the rain.

Speaking of rain (and I think we were)… A slight chance for a lingering shower or storm today as our storm exits stage NE. High only in the low 70s Another storm is heading our way for tomorrow! 20% chance for showers or a storm by afternoon with a high in the low 70s. 50% chance overnight with a low in the low 50s. 40% Tuesday upper 60s!

Clearing out by Wednesday with a morning low near 50 and a high in the mid 70s. Upper 70s Thursday. Near 80 Friday. Low 80s Saturday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Saturday, October 13, 2018

A Pacific storm approacheth! As it interacts with moisture leftover (I love leftovers!) from Sergio we have a chance for rain, showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could contain up to an inch of rain for somebody! Hopefully near you. Today’s high in the low 70s. The storm is a slow mover, so storm chances tonight at 50% with a low in the mid 50s. Lingering storm chances tomorrow with a high in the low 70s.

A disturbance in the force drops down from the NW and brings us a slight chance for rain Monday and continued cool weather with a high in the low 70s despite plenty of sunshine! 20% chance Tuesday too with a high only in the upper 60s!!!

“Things” clear up Tuesday night with a chilly low (mmm chili) of 50 Wednesday morning and a high Wednesday in the mid 70s. Upper 70s Thursday and Friday.
