Forecast for Thursday, January 10, 2018

A trough to our west and high pressure to the east. Here I am. Stuck in the middle with moisture flowing in from the sub tropics (which is actually above the tropics. Go figure). A disturbance in the force may help wring out a few showers again today kinda like yesterday. (which was kinda awesome. not gonna lie) Our weekend storm is looking like not that big a deal, but an inch or two of snow above 6,500 feet or so and a few showers down here in the desert perhaps Saturday night. Otherwise highs really close to, or just above, average and days filled with a mixture of clouds and Sun, fun, and frivolity. Unless you have to work. Then there’s that. Stay tuned!

Mostly cloudy today with a slight chance for light rain and a high in the upper 60s. Mostly clear tonight with a low near 40ish. Sunny low 60s tomorrow. Mostly sunny mid 60s Saturday. 20% Saturday night low 40s. Mostly sunny Sunday low 60s. Partly sunny Monday upper 60s. Mostly sunny Tuesday mid 60s. Partly sunny Wednesday mid 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Wednesday, January 9, 2018

Mike Mike Mike Mike Mike. What day is it Mike?

As a trough of low pressure approacheth the west coast, tropical moisture is being pulled northward into southern Arizona. It is bringing cloudiness, but not really enough low level moisture for a lot of rain. Better chance south and east of town, but we could manage a few light rain showers (half the calories of our regular rain showers) or some sprinkles (mmm sprinkles) today. IF the Sun can manage to peak below the clouds at sunrise and/or sunset we could get possible sunrise and/or sunset enhancement! Keep those cameras and smart devices handy. We’ll keep the clouds around and another disturbance in the force may bring us a slight chance for light rain Thursday night. A better chance for scattered showers Saturday and Saturday night and perhaps an even better chance by Tuesday. Stay tuned!

10% chance for light rain today and a high in the upper 60s. Mostly cloudy tonight upper 40s. Partly sunny tomorrow upper 60s. 10% tomorrow night low 40s. Mostly sunny Friday mid 60s. 20% Saturday mid 60s. 30% Saturday night near 40ish. Mostly sunny Sunday low 60s. 10% Monday mid 60s. 30% Tuesday low 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Tuesday, January 8, 2019

Warmin’ up! Before our next several storms approacheth. Some high clouds today and tonight for possible sunrise and sunset enhancement, so there’s that. Our first storm should be in here by Thursday with a lot of tropical moisture, but not a lot of instability to bring the rain. Still. A few showers are possible with a better chance for rain and snow in the high country. Two storms to follow. The first this weekend and the next early next week. The details are still up in the air (see what I did there?) but it is looking like a more active pattern for southern Arizona. That’s a good thing if you like rain and mountain snow. Stay tuned!

Mostly sunny today with a high in the low 70s. Partly cloudy tonight mid 40s. Partly sunny tomorrow upper 60s. 10% Thursday upper 60s. Sunny Friday mid 60s. 20% Saturday low 60s. Mostly sunny Sunday near 60ish. 20% Monday mid 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Monday, January 7, 2019

Happy Monday! That’s not an oxymoron. Not around here…

A DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect until 9:00 a.m. There are some areas that are already experiencing dense fog this morning, so be advised, there may be dense fog near you. Otherwise we are looking at a sunny day with warmer temperatures. Even warmer tomorrow! Our next system is unimpressive (don’t tell it I said that) but we may manage a few showers on Wednesday. The computer models are still sorting out the storm for this weekend. For now there is just a slight chance for showers, but those chances may rise quite a bit as we get closer. We’ll just have to stay tuned!

Areas of fog this morning otherwise a sunny day today with a high in the low 60s. Mostly clear tonight near 40ish. Sunny low 70s tomorrow. 10% Wednesday low 70s. Partly sunny Thursday upper 60s. Sunny Friday mid 60s. 10% Saturday mid 60s. 10% Sunday low 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Sunday, January 6, 2018

Think it’ll rain? Um…. Well over a half inch of rain so far at the airport. Rain falling in the mountains plus melting snow has prompted a FLOOD ADVISORY until 8:45 this morning. Just be advised, there could be flooding! Runoff into some popular creeks such Sabino Creek, for example, could lead to some flooding, so plan accordingly if you are planning on hiking in the mud. (yeah, I didn’t think so) Rain changes to snow in Sumerhaven this morning and they start to rebuild (their snowpack). 3 to 7 inches of snow is expected to fall today. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we have rain mainly before Noon. Then decreasing clouds with partly cloudy skies by tonight. A weak system may get us Wednesday night/Thursday but it doesn’t look that impressive. Next weekend/early next week could be fun! Stay tuned!

Showers today mainly before noon and a high in the mid 50s. Partly cloudy tonight mid 30s. Sunny tomorrow low 60s. Low 70s Tuesday. Near 70ish Wednesday. 10% Wednesday night and Thursday upper 60s. Sunny Friday and Saturday mid 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Saturday, January 5, 2019

Increasing clouds today as our next storm approacheth. This system will be tapping in to record amounts of moisture for early January and it will start as a warm system. That means rain, heavy at times, tonight in the mountains. Combine that with melting snow and we should end up with running washes and rivers that are fed from Mountain runoff. I’m looking at you Canada del Oro Wash and Rillioto River and their tributaries. Maybe even flooding concerns as we combine the runoff with up to an inch of rain in the lowlands through tomorrow. Please. Enjoy Winter 2019 responsibly. Rain turns into snow tomorrow in the mountains above 7,500 feet as Summerhaven begins working on a new snow pack. 3 to 7 inches expected there tomorrow.

The storm moves out by Monday and we warm up some Tuesday and Wednesday. A slight chance for showers Wednesday night and Thursday. Then another strong storm possible for next weekend! But we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it. Stay tuned!

Increasing clouds today with a high near 68ish. 80% chance for showers tonight with a low in the mid 40s. 70% chance for showers tomorrow with a high in the low 50s. 20% chance for showers Sunday night upper 30s. Mostly sunny Monday low 60s. Upper 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. 20% Thursday mid 60s. Sunny Friday mid 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Thursday, January 3, 2019

The HARD FREEZE WARNING is fixin’ to end at 9:00 this morning and then we can start our warming trend. Mid 20s to start the day is rather brisk, so I imagine that you might welcome some sunshine and relative warmth. If you have snow on the ground it will be going from concrete this morning to mostly gone later today. The exception will be up in the mountains and down here in the shade 😎 Our next storm approacheth Saturday with increasing clouds and rain in here by Saturday night. Snow levels will start high and then fall to around 7,500 feet. As you can see this storm is quite a bit warmer than the last few. It has a lot of moisture to work with too. It could be a good soaking for us valley dwellers. Ski Valley on Mt. Lemmon might add quite a bit to their 40″ base! Storm moves along on Monday and we warm up again Tuesday and Wednesday. As I’ve been showing you on the last few livestreams at least one computer model is hinting that a couple more storms are likely heading our way as we head into mid January. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the mid 50s. Clear skies at night near freezing. Mid 60s tomorrow. Partly sunny mid 60s Saturday. 60% chance for rain Saturday night low 40s. 70% Sunday mid 50s. 10% Monday low 60s. Mostly sunny Tuesday and Wednesday upper 60s to near 70ish! Enjoy!

Forecast for Wednesday, January 2, 2018

It’s snowing! Again. Not everywhere. For example, the radar shows light snow where I live in southern OV, but I’m not seeing any out the window just yet. I am hearing reports of sticking snow in parts of midtown, and the Foothills. Sahuarita, Corona de Tucson, and Vail all getting light snow (half the calories of our regular snow). Light snow also falling at the airport which makes it official! If you are getting snow this morning please let us know. Snow showers in the forecast through the morning hours and our WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY remains in effect until 9:00 this morning with mainly light accumulations in the Metro. Perhaps up to an inch or two in Vail, Corona de Tucson, and Sahuarita/Green Valley.

Skies start to clear this afternoon/evening with temperatures cratering tonight. HARD FREEZE WARNING from 10:00 p.m. until 9:00 tomorrow morning. 24 for a low. Yeah. COLD.

Then we start a bit of a warming trend before our next storm approacheth. Highs actually close to average for this time of year Friday and Saturday. A good chance for rain and mountain snow Saturday night into Monday. Stay tuned!

Partly sunny mid 60s Saturday. 40% chance for showers Saturday night and a 50% chance Sunday upper 50s. 10% Monday low 60s. Sunny upper 60s Tuesday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Tuesday, January 1, 2019

Happy New Year! Baby 2019 has arrived. Some snow down low as well! Catalina. Corona de Tucson. Vail. All with snow on the ground to start the New Year. Snow showers reported since early this morning in parts of the Metro. It is snowing right now at the airport! Although I am a bit disappointed that I don’t have snow on the ground here in southern Oro Valley it sure is pretty so low on Pusch Peak with my coffee on the deck this morning. Hope springs eternal for the New Year with such a special start!

Rain and snow showers remain in our forecast as our low continues to sink to the south. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in effect until 10:00 a.m. Could see some accumulations perhaps. I’m hoping for a snow shower selfie at least! Isolated rain and snow showers lingering into tonight, but our attention turns to the COLD. HARD FREEZE WARNING for tonight and tomorrow night. Lows both nights in the mid 20s! Even down to near 30ish Friday morning. My outdoor plants have become indoor plants. I’m a little concerned they may be getting used to the good life! Warming to near normal highs Friday and Saturday afternoons before we welcome our next storm system. This one looks to be quite a bit warmer with a good chance for rain Sunday and Sunday night. Stay tuned!

Scattered rain and snow showers this morning before Noon. Scattered rain showers from Noon until about 4:00 p.m. Scattered rain and snow showers after 4:00. High today in the upper 40s. Isolated snow showers perhaps before midnight with mostly cloudy skies and a low in the mid 20s. Partly sunny tomorrow morning with clearing skies and high only in the mid 40s! Mid 20s Thursday morning and mid 50s Thursday afternoon. Sunny Friday mid 60s. Partly sunny Saturday mid 60s. 30% chance for rain Saturday night. 40% Sunday upper 50s. 50% Sunday night low 40s. 20% Monday low 60s. Enjoy!

I’m looking at you Catalina, Vail, and Corona de Tucson! Maybe an inch or so of snow for y’all! What a great way to start the year if we could manage snow showers in and around Tucson tomorrow morning! Meanwhile in the mountains it’s a WINTER STORM WARNING from 2:00 this afternoon until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. Summerhaven expecting 1 to 2 feet of snow!!!

All of this excitement is followed up by a HARD FREEZE WARNING for the Metro starting tomorrow night at 10:00 p..m. until 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Mid 20s expected! Hopefully no more flies on my hikes. For those of you sick of the cold, take heart. Warming up to near average (mid 60s) by Friday and Saturday. Another Storm in here by the end of the weekend but it looks like snow levels high enough to maybe even melt some mountain snow. Stay tuned!
