Forecast for Wednesday, January 30, 2019

Winter is returning to us as a series of storms are fixin’ to head our way. Storm numero uno is approaching the central California coast and then will proceed to approacheth Arizona. As it moves through Thursday night into Friday we’ll see showers developing and snow above 7,500 – 8,000 feet. Not much snow accumulation in Summerhaven from this first storm, but the ski area could see an inch or three. Here in the lowlands we are expecting a few hundreths up to a quarter of an inch with prime time for rain being late tomorrow night into Friday morning. Storm numero dos will be right on it’s heels. This one is a bit colder and stronger. Three to eight inches of snow perhaps for Summerhaven this weekend and up to a half inch of rain in the Metro. Storm numero tres? ETA is Monday night into Wednesday. Still a lot of question marks with the main question being how much moisture will it bring. It will be the coldest of the three. We’ll just have to stay tuned!

Partly sunny today with a high in the low 70s. Partly cloudy tonight mid 40s. Mostly sunny tomorrow low 70s. 30% late tomorrow night into Friday. Friday’s high 66ish. 20% Saturday upper 60s. 40% Saturday night mid 40s. 30% Sunday mid 60s. 10% Monday low 60s. 20% Monday night low 40s. 20% Tuesday low 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Tuesday, January 29, 2019

Well that escalated quickly… or will. Rain in the forecast and the pattern change that is coming should open the door for a few storms to move through. Considerable high cloudiness at times through tomorrow with some breaks in the clouds as well. Could lead to some great sunrise and sunset enhancement! Or. The clouds will be too thick and we’ll get skunked like yesterday evening. Keep those 35mm cameras handy and get ready to run down to the One Hour Photo Moto! A small but vigorous upper level low near the central California coast will move south and displace our high pressure to the west. The low is then expected to weaken some and move across the area. Rain showers for us bottom dwellers and snow above 7,500 feet in the forecast Thursday night into Friday. Only a tenth of an inch of rain or less expected in the Metro and an inch or three of snow in Summerhaven. Another storm on the heels of the first should be in here just in time for the weekend. Much more moisture to work with. We could see up to three-quarters of an inch of rain, but we are a ways out, so don’t quote me on that just yet. Rain ending Sunday with yet another system following in behind. The third one looks to be colder, so lower mountain snows early next week. You know, assuming this all comes true. Stay tuned!

Partly sunny today and tomorrow with highs near 70ish. Mostly cloudy tonight and partly cloudy tomorrow night with lows in the mid 40s. Mostly sunny Thursday low 70s. Scattered showers Thursday night mid 40s. Isolated showers Friday morning becoming mostly sunny upper 60s. 20% Saturday upper 60s. 40% Saturday night mid 40s. 20% Sunday mid 60s. 10% Monday low 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Monday, January 28, 2019

The times they are a changin’. Rain is back in the forecast by the end of the week and into the weekend! High pressure still to our west with some high clouds later today into tonight for possible sunset enhancement. Keep those camera devices handy. A system missing us to the north will give us partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies tomorrow into Wednesday. On Wednesday a storm off the central California coast will start to break down the high to our west and open the door for a stronger storm this weekend. Perhaps some light showers (half the calories of our regular showers) on Friday with a bit of snow above 7,500 feet. Then a better chance for rain and mountain snow Saturday and Saturday night. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with some high cloudiness and a high in the mid 70s. Partly cloudy tonight with a low in the mid 40s. Mostly cloudy tomorrow upper 60s. Partly sunny Wednesday low 70s. Mostly sunny Thursday low 70s. 10% chance for showers Friday upper 60s. 20% Saturday upper 60s. 30% Saturday night low 40s. Mostly sunny Sunday 65ish. Enjoy!

Forecast for Sunday, January 27, 2019

Freezing again yesterday! A low of 32 to start the weekend with a high topping at exactly average for this time of year (66). Warmer this morning and this afternoon with some thin high clouds from time to time for possible sunrise and sunset enhancement. More and thicker clouds in here by Monday night and hanging out through Tuesday night. High pressure remains to our west but changes are coming by next weekend. Models are at odds on what will happen exactly. Some say we’ll stay dry next weekend. Others bring in a strong low with valley rain and mountain snow. Right now the smart money is on the drier forecast, but if you like to play the odds go for rain a week from now for a bigger payoff. Either way, it looks like a pattern change to start February. We’ll let the models crunch the numbers (that’s what they do) and see if they can agree by the end of the week. Place your bets and stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the low 70s. Mostly clear tonight upper 30s. Sunny tomorrow low 70s. Mostly cloudy Tuesday upper 60s. Mostly sunny Wednesday low 70s. Sunny Thursday low 70s. Sunny Friday near 70ish. Mostly sunny Saturday 70. Enjoy!

Forecast for Saturday, January 26, 2019

Subtle changes that we’ll tweak as we go. High pressure still to our west and we remain in a NW flow. A weak disturbance in the force brought a few high clouds last night and minor cooling today. We are starting out in the low to mid 30s once again this morning with a high expected just a couple of degrees above the January average of (Route) 66. A bit warmer tomorrow and Monday as high pressure noses in just a bit. The pattern switches slightly to a more westerly flow Monday night into Tuesday with more clouds and some cooling as another disturbance rides through. Then it’s mostly sunshine and a bit warmer for the rest of the week. Staying dry, but a hint of some showers to our east maybe Tuesday and Tuesday night. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the upper 60s. Clear tonight upper 30s. Mostly sunny tomorrow and Monday low 70s. Partly sunny Tuesday upper 60s. Sunny for my birthday near 70ish. Mostly sunny Thursday and Friday low 70s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Friday, January 25, 2019

It’s Friiidaaay!!!

Yesterday we topped out at exactly average for this time of year with a high of 66. We started the day freezing! (32) which is 8 degrees below average. Mid 30s right now at the airport and today’s high should be a couple of degrees warmer. Lots of sunshine through the weekend, but a few high clouds might give us some sunrise and/or sunset enhancement opportunities. Keep your Nikon Canon Sony Pentax Olympus iPhone Android devices handy just in case. Warming up a bit this weekend with high pressure remaining to our east. A system missing us to the north and east early next week will give us more clouds and cooler temperatures, but we stay through my birthday. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the upper 60s. Clear tonight mid 30s. Upper 60s tomorrow. Low 70s Sunday and Monday. Mostly sunny Monday 72ish. Partly sunny Tuesday mid 60s. Sunny Wednesday and Thursday low 70s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Thursday, January 24, 2019

Happy Friday Eve! It makes the weekend seem closer…

All quiet on the western front. Some might call it boring even. High pressure to the west will keep us in a NW flow. A couple of weak disturbances in the force will keep us from warming up too much, but we will warm up some. No rain and barely any clouds in the forecast through the weekend. Staying chilly at night (mmm chili) with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s into next week. Highs bouncing back and forth from the upper 60s to low 70s. Stay Tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the upper 60s. Clear tonight with a low in the upper 30s. Sunny tomorrow near 70ish. Upper 60s Saturday. Low 70s Sunday and Monday. Partly sunny Tuesday upper 60s. Sunny Wednesday upper 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Wednesday, January 23, 2019

Although today won’t be all that warm it will still be warmer than yesterday’s high of 56. 70s return by Friday and last through the weekend. Slight cool off early next week but staying dry. Stay tuned!

Sunny today near 60ish. Clear tonight mid 30s. Sunny tomorrow upper 60s. Low 70s Friday. Upper 60s to near 70 Saturday. Low 70s Sunday and Monday. Upper 60s Tuesday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Meteorology. Meteor from the Greek meaning “from the sky” and ology is “the study of”. So. When I tell you I saw a small fireball or “large” (larger than the usual grain to pebble size) just before 4:50 this morning, that totally fits what we are doing here. Even though I’m not a meteorologist, I sorta play one on FB 🙂 Anyway, it was travelling north to south and I saw a couple pieces break off of the main meteor as it burned across the southern Arizona sky. Pretty cool way to start that day! It was also cool out on the deck with my first cup of coffee. Officially we are starting out in the upper 30s with a wind chill (yes, a wind chill!) in the mid 30s. The cold air is still settling in behind yesterday’s cold front. The good news is that the wind will be relaxing today. The bad news is today’s high will only be in the 50s with a low near freezing tonight. My plants on the deck don’t mind. They get to come in and watch TV! Warming up as we go through the week with a return of that 70s show by Thursday and rerunning through the weekend. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the upper 50s. Clear tonight near freezing. Sunny low 60s tomorrow. Near 70ish Thursday. Low 70s Friday. Near 70ish Saturday. Low 70s Sunday and Monday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Monday, January 21, 2019

79 yesterday! Wow! Also, the NFC AND AFC Championship games went into overtime. Wow! It was a pretty amazing day. Now we looking into the future and see temperatures falling fast. A storm missing us to the north will kick up the winds of change today with south winds 10-20 mph become NW in the afternoon and gusting to near 30. Breezy tonight too with winds relaxing after midnight. MUCH cooler tomorrow followed by a warm up the rest of the week into the weekend. Enjoy!

Mostly sunny and breezy with a high near 70ish. Mostly clear tonight mid 30s. Sunny tomorrow mid 50s. Freezing Wednesday morning with a high in the low 60s. Upper 60s Thursday and Friday. Near 70ish Saturday. Low 70s Sunday. Enjoy!
