Forecast for Monday, February 18, 2019

The storm is running a little late. It gives its apologies, but it will be here as soon as it can. Probably by this afternoon at the latest. Then the George Washington Birthday party can begin! Showers likely this afternoon. Mountain snow. Then rain and snow for the Metro tonight and tomorrow morning. Maybe even some accumulation (an inch or two?) in Vail and other higher low elevations. 6″-12″ above 7,000 feet. 3″-6″ between 5,000 and 7,000 feet. 0″ to 2″ between 2,500 and 3,500 feet. We’ll see! COLD Tuesday night/Wednesday morning with a HARD FREEZE WATCH in effect from 11:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Go out and watch it freeze hard! Also, the 4 Ps. People, pets, pipes and plants. You could add peppermint and Playstation! (maybe?) Storm number two moves in by Thursday (assuming it’s on time) with much more moisture than storm number one… and another chance at low elevation snow. The mountains could see 2+ FEET of snow. Lots of rain for us bottom dwellers. How low will the snow go Friday night? We’ll all find out together. Stay tuned!

Showers likely by this afternoon and a high in the upper 40s. Scattered showers tonight then scattered rain and snow showers with a low near 32ish. Isolated rain and snow showers possible tomorrow morning otherwise clearing skies and a high in the upper 40s. HARD FREEZE WATCH Tuesday night/Wednesday morning with a low in the upper 20s. Sunny Wednesday mid 50s. 40% chance for showers Thursday low 50s. 60% Thursday night upper 30s. 80% Friday upper 40s. 40% chance for rain and snow Friday night/Saturday morning 31ish. Sunny Saturday mid 50s. Near 60ish Sunday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Sunday, February 17, 2019

Here comes Winter! Yesterday wasn’t all that warm either. Our high of 59 is 10 degrees below average for this time of year and it’s going to be cooler than that through at least next weekend. A couple three Winter storms are headed our way with significant snow falling on the mountains. Another breezy day today as our first storm approacheth. It’ll be a little cooler too. Showers beginning late tonight with prime time being tomorrow and tomorrow night. The National Weather Service has upped the ante issuing a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY above 7,000 feet starting at 10:00 tonight through 8:00 tomorrow night. Be advised. There will be winter weather. Summerhaven is looking at 8″-14″ inches of snow from this first storm storm. Here in the Metro it’s looking like rain with perhaps some snow mixed in late tomorrow night/Tuesday morning. Stay tuned Corona de Tucson, Vail, Catalina, Saddlebrooke. Accumulating snow may (may) go that low.

A break in the action Wednesday before a major winter storm moves in for Thursday and especially Friday. Tons of mountain snow (like a foot or two or more!) and lots of valley rain. Snow levels quite low again late Friday night/Saturday morning. Stay tuned!

Sunny and breezy today with west winds gusting around 25 mph and a high in the upper 50s. Partly cloudy tonight with a 20% chance for showers late mid 30s. Forecast for Saturday, February 16, 2019

Everybody loves a parade! Well. Not everybody will love this one (although many will). It is what it is. I hear a lot of people are complaining about this cold Winter. As my Dad used to say, “I’ll give you something to complain about!” A series of Winter storms are fixin’ to move through. The next couple of weeks look cold, wet, and yes, even snowy. A nice weekend with a lot of sunshine, but cool. Highs only in the 50s which is about 10 – 12 degrees below average.

Storm number one should start to move in Sunday night with a chilly rain (mmm chili) through Monday and Monday night. Snow levels crashing down with rain AND snow possible in the Metro Tuesday morning! Will Vail, Corona de Tucson, Catalina, and Saddlebrooke see accumulating snow? It could happen, but this storm doesn’t have a ton of moisture, so an inch or three max if it happens. The National Weather Service is saying 5″-9″ inches above 7,000 feet. 2″-5″ between 5,000 and 7,000 feet. A trace to 3″ between 3,500 and 5,000 feet. So you’re saying there’s a chance. Yeah. It’s gonna be close. Rain amounts should stay below a third of an inch for valley locations.

Storm number two looks MUCH wetter with significant mountain snow and valley rain late Thursday into Friday. It’s a cold one too. How low will the snow go? Plenty of time to sort that out, but it’s going to stay much cooler than normal.

Storm number three? It’s a ways out, but it’s looking that way in say 10 days or so. Stay tuned!

Mostly sunny today with a high in the upper 50s. Mostly clear tonight mid 30s. Sunny mid 50s tomorrow. 20% chance for showers Sunday night mid 30s. Showers likely for George’s Birthday upper 40s. 40% Monday night near freezing. Slight chance (20%) for rain AND snow showers Tuesday morning then mostly sunny and a high near 50ish. Freezing to start the day Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and a high in the mid 50s. 20% chance Thursday upper 50s. 40% Thursday night upper 30s. Showers likely Friday (60%) and breezy upper 50s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Friday, February 15, 2019

It’s Friiidaaay!!!

Still some rain out there and maybe some patchy fog as well. That will eventually taper off and burn off and we may even see some sunshine this afternoon! A calmer and cooler weekend between storms. Winter returns to southern Arizona Sunday night with showers moving in and snow levels dropping to as low as 4,000 feet Monday morning. IF we have lingering showers Tuesday morning that could fall as snow as low as 3,000 feet! We’ll see. Still. 3 to 6 inches of snow above 5,000 feet expected from the next storm and valley rain showers. We’ll keep it chill through the week with yet ANOTHER Winter storm in here as early as Wednesday night. Stay tuned!

Scattered showers this morning otherwise partly sunny today with a high in the upper 60s. Mostly cloudy tonight mid 40s. Mostly sunny tomorrow upper 50s. Mid 50s Sunday. 30% chance for ran Sunday night and a 50% Monday low 50s. 30% chance for showers (rain and snow?) Monday night near freezing. 10% Tuesday low 50s. Mostly sunny Wednesday mid 50s. 20% Wednesday night and 30% Thursday mid 50s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Thursday, February 14, 2019

“Let your love flow… like a mountain stream… and let your love show and you’ll know what I mean…” Um. Those mountain streams will be flowin’ tonight! And I’m not (just) being metaphorical. There is an actual FLOOD WATCH for mountain streams from tonight at 6:00 until tomorrow morning at 11:00. Heavy rain in the mountains, especially west and southwest facing slopes, could lead to heavy runoff. Pay especially close attention to Sabino Creek, Tanque Verde Creek, Rincon Creek and the Canada del Oro Wash. So what in the world is going on?! A river of tropical moisture is moving through through tomorrow. As the moisture gets lifted by the mountains they could see 2 to 3 inches of rain with higher amounts in some areas. Crazy! Meanwhile, a nice soaking expected in valley locations with a half inch to three-quarters for most of us. Prime time is tonight, but we may see a few showers by this afternoon.

The weekend looks sunny but cool. Then a colder system drops in with rain and mountain snow chances Sunday night through Monday night. Snow levels Monday night could crash down to the valley floors perhaps. Lots of time to sort that out. Either way, colder temperatures are returning to us. Stay tuned!

Cloudy today with showers likely by this afternoon and evening and a high in the low 70s. Showers and breezy tonight with WSW winds gusting to near 30 mph and a low in the mid 50s. Showers likely tomorrow morning and then tapering off with mostly cloudy skies and a high in the upper 60s. Mostly sunny Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 50s to near 60ish. A 30% chance for showers Sunday night and 40% for Washington’s Birthday (Happy Birthday George!) and a high in the low 50s. 30% Monday night and then clearing with a low near freezing. Mostly sunny Tuesday 55ish. Upper 50s Wednesday.

Forecast for Wednesday, February 13, 2019

Yesterday’s high out performed the expectation as we topped out at 72 after starting the day at just 29 degrees. Another warm day today with not nearly as cold of a start. Quite a bit of cloud cover along with some sunshine today as our next system approacheth. The storm is located off the Oregon coast and it is pulling copious amounts of moisture northward into southern Arizona. As the storm draws neigh (it will actually miss us to the north, but close enough to spark showers) we should see a good chance for showers starting tomorrow and lasting into Friday. Snow levels will be very high with rain in Summerhaven for the most part. The sun returns this weekend, but with falling temperatures. Then it gets really interesting next week. Rain chances start to increase Sunday night into Monday with snow levels perhaps as low as 3,000 to 4,000 feet Monday night! I’m looking at you Corona de Tucson, Vail, Saddlebrooke, and Catalina. How low will the snow go? We’ll all find out together. Stay tuned!

Partly sunny today with a high in the low 70s. Mostly cloudy tonight with a low near 50ish. Mostly cloudy tomorrow with a 50% chance for showers and a high near 70ish. 70% chance for rain tomorrow night and breezy with a low in the mid 50s. 40% chance Friday upper 60s. Mostly sunny Saturday and Sunday low 60s. 30% for Washington’s Birthday mid 50s. 30% Monday night mid 30s! 10% Tuesday mid 50s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Tuesday, February 12, 2019

Cue Neil Sedaka… “Oooooo I hear laughter in the rain. Walking hand and hand with the one I love…” Or. You could just get dinner reservations, I don’t know, INSIDE the restaurant. Yes, Valentines Day is looking rather rainy. Today, however, looks amazing! Warming up after our freezing temperatures this morning (down to 30 so far at the airport). Increasing clouds this afternoon as our warm and wet storm approacheth. Mostly cloudy and even warmer tomorrow with a slight chance for showers tomorrow night. Prime time looks to be Valentines Day and evening with snow levels way up there. Rain in Summerhaven and even Ski Valley. Valley locations could see a quarter to half inch of rain. We’ll see. A break in the action Saturday with a slight chance for rain by Sunday. Early next week is starting to look interesting. It’s early yet, but we could (could) be looking at a rather cold storm with rather low snow levels. Stay tuned!

Mostly sunny today and warmer with increasing clouds by this afternoon and a high in the upper 60s. Mostly cloudy tonight low 40s. Mostly cloudy tomorrow low 70s. 20% tomorrow night and 50% Valentines Day with a high in the upper 60s. 50% Thursday night and 20% Friday high in the upper 60s. Partly sunny Saturday mid 60s. Mostly sunny Sunday low 60s. 10% Sunday night and Washington’s Birthday upper 50s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Sunday, February 10, 2019

Lots of high clouds yesterday and this morning as a storm is set to move through the Great Basin tonight. Moisture is being pulled northward into Arizona ahead of the storm, hence the clouds. A cold front approacheth and as it moves through tonight we could see some rain to our south and east and also to our north and east. Here we are, stuck in the middle, with maybe a few sprinkles or a spare light rain shower. (brother can you spare a light rain shower?) Cooler tomorrow with more sunshine as the front sweeps away most of the clouds and colder air filters in behind the front. Some warming Tuesday and Wednesday between storms with increasing clouds Wednesday as our next storm approacheth. Lots of moisture with this next storm for a good chance for rain Wednesday night into Thursday night. Snow levels look really high (8,000ish feet) for mostly rain in Summerhaven. It looks like increasing moisture for next weekend for more showers perhaps. Perhaps. Stay tuned!

Partly sunny today with a high in the mid 60s. Mostly clear tonight upper 30s. Sunny tomorrow mid 50s. Near freezing Tuesday morning with a high in the upper 60s. Mostly cloudy Wednesday near 70ish. 40% chance for showers Wednesday night and 50% Thursday. Thursday’s high in the mid 60s. 30% Thursday night and 10% Friday with a high Friday in the upper 60s. 10% Saturday upper 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Saturday, February 9, 2019

Yesterday was downright balmy compared to the couple dayz before. One more day of the “warm” stuff before another cold front smacks us in the face. (OK, it won’t be quite that dramatic, but kinda) A weakening storm off the California coast is pulling moisture northward into southern Arizona again. Increasing mid and high level clouds today into tonight with a high near the average of 68. Sunrise and sunset enhancement possibilities too. The storm will miss us to the north but drag a cold front through early Monday morning for a “nice” cool down. Maybe some showers as far south as the Metro, but more likely to our north. We warm back up again Tuesday and Wednesday before our next storm. Wednesday night and Thursday could be a rainy time of it with early indications indicating (that’s what indications do, you know) perhaps an inch of rain with this storm. It’s early yet. Predicting the future is hard. We’ll all just have to stay tuned!

Increasing clouds today with a high in the upper 60s. Mostly cloudy tonight upper 30s. Partly sunny tomorrow low 60s. Mostly sunny Monday mid 50s. Mid 60s Tuesday. Partly sunny Wednesday low 70s. 30% chance for rain Wednesday night and 40% Thursday. Thursday’s high in the mid 60s. Partly sunny Friday upper 60s. Enjoy!

Forecast for Thursday, February 7, 2019

Happy Friday Eve! (it makes the weekend seem closer. trust me on this one)

After a cold start this morning temperatures will rebound a bit this afternoon with sunshine. Even warmer tomorrow between systems. Our next system won’t really be ours. It will miss us well to the north this weekend, but we will see more high clouds (for possible sunrise and sunset enhancement) and breezes. Cooling off slightly this weekend too, and who knows, maybe even a sprinkle on Sunday. A mix of clouds and Sun continues into next week with highs slightly below average for this tome of year. Our next real chance for rain MAY be the end of next week. That is beyond the seven day forecast, so we’ll burn that bridge when we get to it. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the upper 50s. Clear tonight near freezing. Sunny upper 60s tomorrow. Partly sunny Saturday upper 60s. Partly sunny Sunday mid 60s. Mostly sunny Monday low 60s. Partly sunny Tuesday low 60s. Upper 60s Wednesday. Enjoy!
