Forecast for Thursday, December 6, 2018

Here we go! The time for talk is over. The time for precipitation has arrived. Our much advertised storm is here and our anticipated rain and high mountain snow is imminent! By high mountain snow I’m talking a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY above 8,000 feet (be advised there will be Winter weather above 8,000 feet) in effect from 5:00 tonight until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. Not much accumulation expected in Summerhaven, but maybe a foot of snow (maybe) above 8,500 feet.

Meanwhile, here in the lowlands, a few showers possible today with prime time tonight and tomorrow. Maybe even a thunderstorm thrown in! Still expecting storm totals of .25″ – .75″ perhaps isolated amounts a bit higher. As always, your individual mileage may vary. The storm exits stage east and will have all kinds of fun in the southern Plains and perhaps historic snow totals in North Carolina and Virginia. But, this is Tucson Weather, so we’ll enjoy the return of the Sun this weekend. Perhaps another system in here by Tuesday night/Wednesday of next week. Stay tuned!

Mostly cloudy today with isolated showers and a high near 65ish. Showers likely tonight with a low in the upper 40s. Showers and possibly a storm tomorrow with a high in the low 60s. Lingering showers Friday night with clearing skies Saturday and a high in the low 60s. Sunny Sunday upper 60s. Mostly sunny Monday and Tuesday upper 60s. Slight chance for showers Tuesday night and Wednesday with a high in the low 60s.

Forecast for Wednesday, December 5, 2018

Fairly average around these parts yesterday. 37 to start the day was 3 degrees below the seasonal norm and 68 for a high was 2 degrees above. Average those and you’re pretty close to an average cool December day. Warmer today ahead of our somewhat warm and wet Winter storm that approacheth. Increasing clouds tonight with isolated showers beginning perhaps as early as tomorrow. Prime time still looks to be tomorrow night and Friday with showers lingering into Friday night before the storm moves east. .25″ – .75″ of rain expected for valley locations before all is said and done. Snow levels still look pretty high with this system starting above 8,500 feet! That means rain for Summerhaven tomorrow and tomorrow night. Rain and snow Friday changing to snow showers Friday night but not expecting a lot to stick. Just up the road at Ski Valley still could see close to a foot of snow, so there’s that. Sunny and cool this weekend into next week. Another storm in here perhaps mid next week. We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it. Stay tuned!

Mostly sunny today with a high in the mid 70s. Increasing clouds tonight with a low in the upper 40s. 20% chance for isolated showers tomorrow upper 60s. 60% tomorrow night and 80% Friday with a high Friday in the low 60s. 20% Friday night becoming mostly sunny Saturday low 60s. Sunny upper 60s Sunday. Partly sunny upper 60s Monday and Tuesday.

Forecast for Tuesday, December 4, 2018

“The current temperature in the Casas Adobes is 41.” Thanx Google. My deck thermometer says 43. It’s currently (5am ish) 37 at the airport and Davis-Monthan. So yeah, grab the parka on your way out the door this morning. The cool thing is it will be getting warmer the next couple of days even as our next storm approacheth. High clouds from time to time for possible sunrise and sunset enhancement. The storm looks like a good one for valley rain and mountain rain and snow. Early indications continue to indicate about .75″ of rain in the low lands give or take. Over an inch probably in some mountain locations. Snow levels will start quite high (above 8,000 feet) before lowering on Friday. Right now the forecast for Summerhaven is rain and snow showers Thursday and Thursday night and then 1″ – 3″ of snow Friday. Of course Snow Valley will get dumped on. A foot of snow maybe? Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the storm moseys on Friday night leaving us with clearing skies and a cool weekend. Stay tuned!

Mostly sunny today near 70ish. Partly cloudy mid 40s tonight. Mid 70s tomorrow. 20% chance for showers Thursday upper 60s. 70% Thursday night/Friday high near 60. 20% Friday night and Mostly sunny Saturday low 60s. Upper 60s Sunday and Monday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Monday, December 3, 2018

Google Home tells me that “the current temperature in the Casas Adobes is 40” and my outdoor thermometer on the deck reads 41. Not  freezing here (but your individual mileage may vary) but definitely chilly (mmm chili). Hanging out with the cools kids one more day before a slight ridge warms us up the next couple. Some high cloudiness from time to time for possible sunrise and sunset enhancement. Our next rain maker has been on the NWS “radar” for a solid week. Confidence is high that a storm will be rolling through Thursday into Friday. Snow levels will be quite high to begin with with some rain mixing into the snow in Summerhaven perhaps. Early indications are we could pick up anywhere from a quarter inch to an inch of rain. Stay tuned!

Sunny today with a high in the low 60s. Mostly clear tonight upper 30s. Mostly sunny tomorrow near 70ish. mid 70s Wednesday. 30% chance for showers Thursday upper 60s. 70% Thursday night upper 40s. 60% Friday low 60s. Mostly sunny Saturday low 60s. Mid 60s Sunday. Enjoy!

Forecast for Sunday, December 2, 2018

Not a lot of showers around last night and this morning. Maybe none at all (I haven’t seen any). Anyway, our little system that is moving through doesn’t have a lot of moisture to work with, so maybe a shower or two this morning, but nothing too dramatic. The big question is tonight/tomorrow morning. How low will the low go?! We should see clearing skies today/tonight, but enough high cloudiness for a) possible sunset enhancement and b) keeping our low from bringing a widespread freeze to the Metro. Still, a predicted low of 35 means you might dip below freezing and we should see plenty of frost in the morning. Get that credit card ready to do some scrapping if you park outside!

Slight ridge of high pressure will bring warmer afternoons the next few days before our next system moves through Thursday into Friday. Good chance for rain and mountain snow above 7,000 feet Thursday/Thursday Night/Friday. Sunshine returns to start next weekend.

Isolated showers a slight possibility before Noon today otherwise becoming mostly sunny with a high near 58. Mostly clear tonight and chilly (mmm chili) with a low in the mid 30s. Sunny low 60s tomorrow. Near 70ish Tuesday. Mid 70s Wednesday. 40% chance for showers Thursday upper 60s. Showers likely (60%) Thursday night. 40% Friday low 60s. Sunny Saturday low 60s. Enjoy!
