Monsoon 2018 roared last night! The Foothills was hit hard with at least one report of tree damage and over 2″ of rain!  Midtown got in on the act as well. A couple places that have been missing out finally participating in Monsoon 2018. Not as much activity expected today. Yesterday’s storms have sapped the atmosphere of some of the energy needed for widespread activity. Still, with plenty of moisture around and lots of sunshine we could see a few storms this afternoon and evening, hopefully near you! High pressure in the NW part of the state slowly moving to the Four Corners by the weekend will keep us in daily storm chances into next week. Viva Monsoon 2018!

Well that didn’t work out according to plan. We were pretty much skunked yesterday and I would call that forecast busted! Weather is an inexact science and it’s one reason why I like it so much. Still. When you are expecting storms and it doesn’t happen it can be frustrating. It happens. I mean, it happened! Let’s take another run at it today. High pressure in southern Nevada will slowly make its way to the Four Corners this week. That should keep us in a favorable spot for scattered afternoon and evening storms all week. Highs and lows slightly above the averages of 98 and 74.

Judging from the Facebook comments, yesterday was one of those frustrating Monsoon days for some of you. Great chance for storms, but none near you. I hate to say it. I even feel a little bit guilty. I had three showers/storms yesterday afternoon/evening here in southern Oro Valley! My plants on the deck are happy happy happy. It was nice. Don’t get discouraged. Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast through the entire week. Hopefully some near you!

It’s Friiidaaay!!!

Nice to be back around 100ish after our mini heat wave. 103 yesterday was 7 degrees “cooler” than the day before. It really does make a difference. Similar high temperature today. Perhaps a degree or two lower. The weather headline? The return of storm chances today, through the weekend, and into next week! Happy Dayz are here again! Not as cool as the Fonz, but closer to our average of 98 for this time of year. Take time out of your busy day to dance in the rain (you know, if you get some), but at the same time don’t get hit by lightning. OK. Maybe don’t dance in the rain. Use your best judgement.
